Dennis Lloyd Swaim, 72, of Floris, Iowa passed away on July 30, 2024 at his home. He was born on May 6, 1952 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Floyd Howard and Ella Jane Farris Swaim. He graduated from Davis County High School in 1970. On October 28, 1972 he married Penny Huffman in Ottumwa, Iowa. The couple shared many wonderful years together.
Dennis was a farmer, raising crops and livestock, and worked for WINBCO Tank Company in Ottumwa for over 40 years. He enjoyed the friends he worked with and kept in contact with many since his retirement in 2017. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at Christmas time, and adored his grandson, Reed. He also enjoyed going to car shows in his younger days where he would show his 1970 Ford Torino GT, a car he still owns. Dennis served in the Army National Guard. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Swaim; daughter, Heather (Bill) Morehouse of Ottumwa; son, Aaron (Dianna) Swaim of Floris, Iowa; grandson, Reed Swaim; brother, Curtis Joe (Trish) Swaim of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Davis County with Aaron Swaim officiating. The casket will be open at the cemetery from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday; no visitation hours will be held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to his family. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
