Timothy Edward Osteen, 74, of Ottumwa, died at 5:15 a.m. July 17, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.

He was born July 11, 1950 in Ottumwa to Charles and Patricia E. McBride Osteen. He married Cynthia Ann Greer December 22, 1976.

A 1969 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1974-1987 and later in the Iowa National Guard. Having lived in Centerville, Moravia and Texas, Tim moved back to Ottumwa in 1991 where he worked for Arnold’s Motor Supply and as a mechanic at Goodyear Tire.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Antiquity Masonic Lodge #252 in Moravia, Izaak Walton League and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. He enjoyed his race car, hunting, collecting coins, bowling and coaching his son’s baseball team.

Surviving is his wife, Cindy; their son, Tim (Athena) Osteen II of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Timothy Osteen III and Aubrey Osteen; a sister, Karen (Gerald) Fey and their children, Amy and Kyle of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Osteen and Dennis Osteen.

Visitation will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 21st at Reece Funeral Home with his family present from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday to greet friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 22nd at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery at a later date with military honors conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Home Health and Hospice.
