The Ottumwa Hy-Noon Kiwanis Club has postponed this year’s cemetery walk. For October 9, 2026.
The club thanks everyone who purchased tickets and supported the event. All pre-event sales will be refunded.
The walk was planned in part to honor Bob Swanson, who gave so much to this community and to Kiwanis, along with other local figures. After weeks of rain, cemetery paths are soft and uneven. Club members raised safety concerns about footing and the risk of falls for participants and volunteers.
The decision was not made lightly. The committee put substantial time, research, and care into this year’s tour. That work will be carried forward so the club can honor Bob Swanson and other local stories at a later walk, next year or in the spring, when attendance and conditions can support the event.
Refunds will be issued to those who have already paid. Questions may be directed to the Ottumwa Hy-Noon Kiwanis Club.
