An Ottumwa woman faces multiple charges after allegedly breaking into a home and attacking an occupant earlier this week.
Daphnide Cadostin, 33, was charged with first-degree burglary (Class B felony) and domestic abuse assault display or use of weapon – first offense (aggravated misdemeanor).
On October 11th at approximately 9:25 PM, court records say Cadostin illegally entered a home on the 400 block of North Iowa Avenue in Ottumwa. According to authorities, an occupant of the residence was attempting to stop a separate assault when Cadostin struck him multiple times on his hand with a corkscrew. Castostin and the victim are the parents of a minor child, according to the criminal complaint.
Additionally, Cadostin allegedly attempted to strike the victim with a glass bottle during the incident. Police later noted the victim was injured in the alleged assault and was wearing a shirt that was torn by Cadostin.
