The City of Birmingham in Van Buren County will temporarily shut off water service on Monday, October 5th at 10:00 a.m. for critical sewer system repairs, according to a notice from Birmingham Fire posted on social media.
The interruption is expected to last approximately one hour, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Upon restoration of water service, a mandatory 72-hour boil water order will automatically go into effect and remain in effect until Thursday, October 8th, pending required water quality testing.
During the boil order, all water used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or food preparation must either be stored prior to the shutoff or brought to a rolling boil for at least two minutes before use.
