Attorney General Brenna Bird today praised the hard work and persistence of the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation for the second arrest in the 31-year-old murder case of Angela “Angie” Buck. The Attorney General’s Office Cold Case Unit assisted in the latter stages of the case and both arrests.
On Wednesday, October 28th, Lindell Jackson, 50, of Waterloo, Iowa, was charged with Murder in the First Degree in connection with the 1995 death of Angie Buck. Jackson was already in custody at the Black Hawk County Jail on an unrelated charge.
Angela “Angie” Renee Buck, 37, of Waterloo was found deceased in rural Black Hawk County by two hunters on August 11, 1995. Black Hawk County deputies responded to the scene. The Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office later determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound and it was classified as a homicide.
The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office continued to investigate the case, assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office Cold Case Unit. On October 15th, Kelly Grant, 59, of Bertha, Minnesota was arrested and charged with Murder in the First Degree for Angie’s murder.
“Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Black Hawk County Sheriff Neff, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Black Hawk County Attorney Brian Williams, and with assistance from our Cold Case Unit, this second arrest for Angie’s murder of Lindell Jackson continues to bring answers for Angie’s family,” said Attorney General Bird. “No case is ever too cold for justice to be served.”
No further details are being released currently. A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
