The Fahrney Education Foundation Scholarship Committee will begin accepting applications on- line for the 2027-2028 school year beginning November 1, 2026. Students may apply on-line at: fahrneyscholarship.awardspring.com. The deadline to apply is February 15, 2027, at midnight.
The Fahrney Scholarship fund was established by the trust estate of Helen Fahrney in memory of her husband, Charles. For the 26/27 academic year, 88 students received $220,000 in scholarships. In the forty-five years of the existence of the Fahrney Education Foundation
Scholarship, Wapello County students have been recipients of scholarships totaling approximately $8,660,000.
To be eligible, applicants must be a resident of Wapello County, Iowa, or resident within the State of Iowa, and enrolled full-time, making satisfactory scholastic progress, in either a four- year college or university in the State of Iowa leading to a bachelor or post-graduate degree or a two-year Iowa college associate arts or science program leading to a four-year course of study and bachelor degree. No applicant will be eligible to receive more than four scholarship awards.
Applicants must reapply annually.
