The Vintage Cruisers and Wapello County Car Guys are preparing for their second annual Veterans Appreciation Car, Truck and Cycle Show on Saturday, October 10, in Ottumwa.
The event will be held at 1020 North Quincy Avenue, in the large parking lot behind the AutoZone Parts Store. Registration will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., with awards presented at 2 p.m.
The entry fee is $20 per vehicle. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 10 entries, along with a $100 Best of Show award.
Gregg Young Toyota will provide a free lunch from one of the event’s food trucks for the first 60 veterans in attendance.
The day will also include a 50/50 drawing, a silent auction featuring prizes donated by area sponsors, music and other activities.
One of the highlights will be the appearance of the G.R.U. service vehicle, representing the Guardian Response Unit. The volunteer responders are dedicated to helping veterans and first responders dealing with life-threatening situations and other challenges.
Organizers also hope to have the Ottumwa National Guard’s 224th Engineer Unit on hand with a unit display.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Veterans of Wapello County.
