The City of Ottumwa will hold its annual September 11 Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, September 11, giving residents an opportunity to pause and remember those who lost their lives in the attacks of September 11, 2001.
The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at the flagpole on the Fourth Street side of Ottumwa City Hall, located at 105 East Third Street.
Members of the community, city leaders, and local first responders are expected to gather for the remembrance. The ceremony will honor the nearly 3,000 people who died that day, as well as the firefighters, police officers, emergency personnel and everyday citizens who showed courage and compassion in the aftermath.
The City of Ottumwa is inviting residents to attend and take part in the ceremony as the community comes together to reflect, remember and honor the lives affected by September 11.
The September 11 Remembrance Ceremony is open to the public.
