Mary Fenton, born Mary Louise Yeo of Oskaloosa, Iowa, peacefully released her spirit while comforted by her children and grandchildren at home on September 2, 2026. Ever the wild child, Mary refused to let age or society define her. She firmly believed that rules were made to be broken, and she lived those beliefs out loud every single day.
As a true child of the 1960s, Mary was an open book who loved fiercely and without reservation. Her vibrant spontaneity and wonderfully ornery sense of humor could always light up a room and spark a laugh. Her family will forever treasure her beautiful chaos, her signature brand of mischief, and the unforgettable moments she gifted to everyone around her. A true survivor, Mary fiercely overcame life’s hardest trials and reclaimed her life, walking a courageous path of healing, peace, and freedom. She refused to let life harden her heart; instead, her own struggles taught her that generosity should know no bounds and to always hold onto hope. She was endlessly giving of her affection, her material belongings, and, of course, her opinions—which she gladly and candidly shared with anyone willing to listen. Mary knew without a doubt that she would be warmly greeted in the afterlife by her parents, Kenneth and Anna, whose memories she held close to her heart, her beloved siblings, Marie and Clarence, and her late husband, Kenny Garrett.
Her bright energy, authentic nature, and legendary wit will be fiercely remembered and celebrated for generations to come by those she leaves behind: her husband, Larry Fenton; her sister, Lucille; her children, Billy, Terry, Tommy, Jimmy, and Carrie, and their spouses; and her many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Instead of flowers, the family asks that you please consider an act of generosity in the campaign against cancer and Alzheimer’s, so that Mary’s spirit can help bring hope to others who are facing these diseases.
As was Mary’s wish, her body has been cremated, and no services are planned at this time. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with Mary’s final wishes.
