Mahaska Health is welcoming a familiar face back to the Oskaloosa community.
Drew Richmond, MD, has joined the Mahaska Health General Surgery team. Richmond is an Oskaloosa native and is returning to the area to provide surgical care to patients throughout the region.
Richmond provides a wide range of general surgery services, including hernia repairs, colorectal surgery and endoscopy. He also performs minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgeries using the da Vinci surgical system.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine before completing his general surgery residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. During his residency, Richmond completed surgical rotations at Mahaska Health, giving him an opportunity to care for patients in the community where he grew up.
Mahaska Health Chief Medical Officer and General Surgeon Dr. Timothy Breon says Richmond’s experience and training will strengthen the hospital’s ability to provide a broad range of surgical services locally.
Mahaska Health says Richmond’s addition to the team will help meet both the acute and long-term surgical needs of patients across the region.
Appointments with Dr. Richmond can be scheduled by calling 641-672-3360. More information about General Surgery is available through Mahaska Health.
