A south-central Iowa farmer says his 2026 fall harvest will get underway soon.
Steve Kuiper raises corn and soybeans near Knoxville in Marion County.
“I think we’ll cut some beans next week. We’ve got some corn that’s close. We’re debating on how much we want to dry it.”
He tells Brownfield questions remain about the overall quality of this year’s crop.
“We had a wind event the other night and so from the road you don’t see many downed stalks, but if you get out in the field you start to see areas where we had some crown rot and some stuff that could be some issues.”
Kuiper, who also serves as president of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, spoke to Brownfield on Friday following a fertilizer hearing in Ogden.
