The Fairfield Art Association’s 17th annual downtown summer art installation, “Firecrackers,” has concluded and will be taken down following Kiwanis Kids Day on September 18th, according to a press release from the organization.
This year’s installation featured 12 unique pieces created by ten artists, some contributing two works each. Participating artists were Tom and Shelly Urban, Mike Pech, Suzan Kessel, Ezekiel Moore, Chuck and Terri Drobny, Ashley Worley and Fairfield Baptist Church, GG’s Signs and Designs with Clear Creek CNC, Victoria Rose, Connie Boyer, and Claire Reid.
The winner of the public “Vote for Favorite” was Mike Pech for his entry “250 Years and Still Soaring,” located on the east side of the Fairfield square. The piece features two eagles creatively constructed from PVC pipes, strikingly painted with additional materials incorporated into the design. Mark Hickenbottom of Hickenbottom Inc. donated the PVC pipes used in this year’s installation.
The Firecrackers installation also serves as a fundraiser for the FAA, a non-profit organization celebrating its 60th year. Several original pieces from this year’s installation remain available for purchase. Those interested can contact Suzan Kessel at suzan1252@aol.com or 641-919-2121.
