The Field of Dreams Movie Site is hosting its second music festival after a successful inaugural year last year.
The Velocity Festival featured Tim McGraw and Nickelback last year and country superstar Carrie Underwood headlines this year’s event on Saturday night. Dyersville Chamber Director Karla Thompson says they’ve expanded to three days starting today , and Shinedown, Creed, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Collective Soul and Skillet are among the other performers.
“I mean, there is music going on from 12:30, 1:00 all the way to the end. So I mean, no matter what time you come, you’re going to hear some great music from a variety of artists,” she says. Thompson says it’s not too late to get tickets for all three days. “So some of the VIP ones are sold out. You know, Friday VIP is sold out. But I mean, there’s Saturday and Sunday VIP is still open. But if you want to go, there are still tickets available,” Thompson says.
She says you should make sure you are buying tickets in the right place. “I would highly recommend going to the official website, velocityfest.live, is the website that you need to be on. There are a lot of good look-alikes, but they are like the secondary market,” Thompson says.
The first festival last year drew more than 35,000 fans to Dyersville. Dubuque officials recommend you prepare for the hot weather and don’t forget the sunscreen.
