A Fairfield man was arrested earlier this month after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
48-year-old Eric Vorhies has been charged with domestic abuse assault – 2nd offense, an aggravated misdemeanor.
On August 12th, a woman called 911 to report that Vorhies assaulted her. When officers responded to the scene the alleged victim told police she was sitting in the couple’s bed when Vorhies entered the room and struck her on the side of the head with a broomstick. The officer noted the left side of the victim’s face and her left ear were bright red.
Vorhies told the officer that he and his girlfriend were arguing but denied assaulting her.
Vorhies was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. He was later freed after posting a $2,000 bond. Vorhies has been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
