A Hunter Education Classroom Course with a live firing component is scheduled for Saturday, September 19th at the Keokuk County Sportsman Club, located at 20162 240th Avenue in Sigourney, running from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Hunter education is a mandatory program in Iowa for anyone born after January 1st, 1972 who wishes to purchase an Iowa hunting license. The course covers basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, wildlife management basics, hunting laws, and firearm and archery safety. It also emphasizes individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.
Lunch will be provided. Prior to attending, participants should download the Today’s Hunter handbook and complete the Chapter Review on pages 89 through 92, bringing their answers to class.
Registration is open through September 15th and is limited to 28 participants. To register, visit license.gooutdoorsiowa.com. Those registering a child should log in as the child or create an account for the child rather than registering as a parent. Students who have previously purchased Iowa DNR licenses will already have an Iowa DNR account and should use their personal information to register.
