Fairfield Man Charged with Burglary after Alleged Early Morning Break-In

A Fairfield man is accused of breaking into a home and stealing multiple items on Sunday.

An officer from the Fairfield Police Department was dispatched to a residence on the 1000 block of West Stone Avenue concerning a burglary in progress at 4:15 AM.

After interacting with a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy, the two law enforcement officers conducted an exterior search a discovered an open door on the west side of the residence.

The pair waited for another officer then entered the building to clear the home. After announcing their prescentce in the home, an individual, later identified as 36-year-old Travis Kraft, exited the living room area.

Court records say Kraft told authorities he removed a tub from the residence and was in the process of taking some frozen meat from a freezer when law enforcement arrived.

Kraft was charged with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony.

Kraft is currently in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 26th.
