Arvena Dahm, 102, died peacefully at Grand Living at Indian Creek, Cedar Rapids, Iowa on August 26, 2026. Arvena was born on June 9, 1924, to Marinus and Antoinette (Verros) Huyser. Until moving to Grand Living in June 2021, she was a life-long resident of Pella, Iowa and took great pride in her Dutch heritage. She married J.B. Dahm on March 9, 1949, with whom she shared a 61 year life until his passing in 2010. Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were her parents, her sister, Helen Bennink and her grandson, Braden Dahm. Survivors include her three children: Ann Buckheister (Robert) of Cedar Rapids; Bryce Dahm (Marla) of Clive, Iowa; and Mary Freet of Lantana, TX; five grandchildren, Tom Buckheister (Dawn), Susan Hanson (Karl), Jasen Dahm (Brittany), Amy Strickland (Will) and Austin Freet (Kennedy); and nine great-grandchildren. Arvena led a full and rewarding life. She was always interested in getting to know people and their backgrounds. She enjoyed traveling, music, reading, flowers, knitting, needlework, crafts and most of all spending time with her family. The family would like to thank the staff at Grand Living and Hospice of Mercy for their kind and attentive care.
