Two River Hills Community Health Centers locations are set to close at the end of the month, affecting 24 workers across Richland and Centerville, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification received by the Eastern Iowa Workforce Board.

The closures of the Richland and Centerville locations are scheduled for July 31st. A WARN notice is required under federal law when a company conducts a mass layoff or plant closure affecting a certain number of workers, providing advance notice to employees and the community.

The Eastern Iowa Workforce Board has already deployed a Rapid Response team to coordinate support services for affected employees. Regional Partnership Manager Tyler Lanz said a Worker Information Meeting and other supporting events have already been held, and the Local Rapid Response Team has met with the employer to proactively plan assistance for impacted workers.

Through Iowa’s Rapid Response program, affected workers can access a range of services including interview preparation, job search assistance, unemployment assistance, job readiness workshops, career and training opportunities, and connections to hiring and recruitment events. The program is designed to help impacted workers find new employment as quickly as possible while keeping as many workers in the area as possible.

Community partners who would like to work with the Local Rapid Response Team to support affected employees are encouraged to reach out to the Eastern Iowa Workforce Board. Additional information on available resources is available at workforce.iowa.gov/iowaworks, and Rapid Response information can be found at workforce.iowa.gov/rapid-response.
