A man is in custody after police say he sexually assaulted a woman in Ottumwa on Sunday.
Wester Tertulien, 31, was charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony.
The Ottumwa Police Department says that sometime between 4:00 AM and 6:15 AM on July 26th, Tertulien committed multiple sex acts with a woman against her will. Court records say the victim sustained multiple injuries to her mouth, back, and other areas due to Tertulien’s actions. According to the criminal complaint, the incident occurred at a residence on South Milner Street.
Tertulien was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail where he is being held without bond.
Tertulien has a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 4th.
