The Keota Community School District has begun circulating a petition for a potential $6.4 million bond referendum following the district’s announcement last month that it was exploring facility improvements, according to a social media post from Keota Elementary School.
Community members can stop by the District Central Office to sign the petition Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The district emphasized that signing the petition is not a vote in favor of the bond — it simply gives the Keota community the opportunity to vote yes or no on the proposal in November. The district said it is seeking signatures first as a financially responsible way to gauge public interest before committing to upfront costs such as blueprints, renderings, and engineering work.
If the bond were approved by voters on November 3rd, 2026, it would fund improvements to both the junior-senior high school and the elementary school, including secure entrances, HVAC upgrades, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing improvements, educational space renovations, and fire alarm upgrades throughout the buildings.
