The Iowa National Guard is hosting a Community Leader Event at the Fairfield Armory on Friday, August 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering local business, community, and education leaders a firsthand look at the capabilities and professionalism of Iowa National Guard soldiers, according to Mendy McAdams with the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
The event will be held at the Fairfield Armory, located at 1501 West Stone Avenue in Fairfield. A Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting is scheduled for noon. Lunch will be provided.
The agenda includes a welcome and introductions at 11:30 a.m., followed by an overview of the Iowa National Guard’s story and missions, a presentation on Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Iowa National Guard soldier spotlights, a live vehicle demonstration, and a potential civic leader flight around the City of Fairfield, subject to weather and aircrew availability.
Attendees will gain insight into how military service develops highly skilled and adaptable individuals, learn about the benefits of hiring Guard members, and better understand the role employers play in supporting the Guard and Reserve mission.
