The Appanoose County Sheriff’s Office offered more details about the shooting in Moulton on Monday that injured three people.
Drakona Lee Clark, 17, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with three counts of attempted murder, a Class B felony, and three counts of willful injury, a Class C felony.
The sheriff’s office says Clark was involved in a physical altercation with other family members at a residence on the 200 block of East Third Street in Moulton. Clark then allegedly armed himself with a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun from his father’s bedroom and shot his estranged stepmother, his 20-year-old brother, and his brother’s 21-year-old girlfriend.
Clark fled the residence and was apprehended by law enforcement approximately eight blocks away. He was later transported to a hospital in Iowa City to treat injuries related to the physical altercation, according to authorities.
Clark’s stepmother and his brother’s girlfriend were transported via air ambulance to a Des Moines hospital for treatment. Clark’s brother was taken to a hospital in Centerville. The identities of the gunshot victims were not disclosed, and officials say none of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries.
Clark is currently in the Appanoose County Jail. His bail has been set at $85,000.
The case remains under investigation.
