Moulton Shooting Leaves Three Injured, Teen Suspect in Custody

A shooting in Moulton stemming from an apparent domestic dispute resulted in three people injured and the shooter was apprehended, according to authorities.

At approximately 2:27 PM on Monday, July 13th, a 911 call was received regarding a shooting on the 200 block of East Third Street. Officers from the Centerville Police Department and deputies from the Appanoose County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched and on the way to the address in Moulton, they found a 17-year-old boy at the intersection of Eighth and Main Street who had injuries related to the incident, according to Appanoose County Sheriff Gary Anderson. The teen was later identified as the shooter.

The suspect was taken into custody, treated by emergency personnel, and later airlifted to a hospital in Iowa City.

When authorities arrived at the home on East Third Street, they found three people with gunshot injuries that were determined to be non-life-threatening. Two of the victims were transported to a hospital in Des Moines and the other victim was taken to a hospital in Centerville.

The shooting remains under investigation. Officials say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
