Weather had a mixed impact on Iowa crops last week.
Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig says thunderstorms over the weekend brought isolated reports of hail and straight-line winds, but also much needed rainfall across northern Iowa.
“It’s been trending dry really all throughout the spring (in north Iowa). It’s great for planting, but you still need that moisture.”
USDA’s latest weekly crop update rates 78 percent of corn and 75 percent of soybeans in the state good to excellent.
Crop development is slightly behind normal with corn 1 percent silking and soybeans 18 percent blooming.
