A 52-year-old Ottumwa man is facing charges after authorities say he was living in violation of Iowa’s sex offender residency restrictions.

According to court records, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant on Adam Sunkle on June 15 at approximately 12:40 p.m. in the 1000 block of Albia Road.

Court documents state that Sunkle is a Tier III registered sex offender and is subject to residency restrictions under Iowa law.

The criminal complaint alleges that Sunkle was residing within 2,000 feet of Ottumwa Christian School. Authorities also claim he was living within 2,000 feet of property owned by the Ottumwa Community School District.

Sunkle was taken into custody and is being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $2,000 cash-only bond.

He is charged with first-offense sex offender residency violation, an aggravated misdemeanor.
