A Sigourney man is facing a felony charge after authorities allege he failed to comply with Iowa’s sex offender registration requirements.
According to court records, 65-year-old Jerry Sanders was arrested on June 14 after the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant.
Court documents state Sanders is classified as a Tier III registered sex offender and is required by law to report any changes to his registration information. This includes providing the names, genders, and dates of birth of all individuals residing in his household within five business days of any change.
Authorities allege Sanders failed to comply with those reporting requirements. Court records further indicate he has five prior convictions related to sex offender registration violations.
Sanders was taken into custody at a residence on Rabbit Run Road and transported to the Wapello County Jail, where he is being held on a $5,000 cash-only bond.
He is charged with Sex Offender Registration Violation, Second or Subsequent Offense, a Class D felony.
