Rosemary Boender, 85, of Clive, formerly of Oskaloosa, passed away at Walnut Ridge Care Center in Clive on June 3, 2026.
Rosemary Boender, daughter of Luther Washington Angell Jr. and Mary Louise (Wisman) Angell, was born August 27, 1940, in Centralia, Missouri. She attended Centralia High School and graduated with the class of 1958. She then attended Christian College in Columbia, Missouri, and graduated with her associate’s degree. Rosemary was set up on a blind date with a young man named Jack Boender, and the two were later married in Kirksville, Missouri, in 1960.
To this union, two sons were born, Tim and Todd. The family later moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa, where Rosemary would continue her education at William Penn College, where she majored in elementary education. Rosemary would spend the next 20+ years of her working career teaching at Webster Elementary School in Oskaloosa until her retirement in 2001.
In her free time, Rosemary enjoyed painting, in her youth and later in life. She also enjoyed antiquing and attending antique auctions. She was an avid collector and had many beautiful treasures.
Her family includes her two sons: Tim (Connie) Boender of Lincoln, NE; and Todd (Marsha) Boender of Grimes, IA; her five granddaughters: Amanda Boender; Olivia Boender; Brianna (Zach) Roeder and their daughter Paisley; Maddie (La’a Moniz) Boender and their son Kylar Moniz; and Allie (Matt Liong) Boender; a brother, Charles (Sherry) Angell of Centralia, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack, and her brother and sister-in-law, Luther and Joan Angell.
Funeral Services for Rosemary will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Jed Angell officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, and begin at 9:00 a.m., two hours prior to the funeral service. Interment will be held at the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
