Paul Dana Truitt “Ace”, 71, of Ottumwa, died June 12, 2026 at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa.
He was born February 9, 1955, in Polk County, Iowa. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1973 and from the Culinary Arts Department at Indian Hills Community College.
Paul was a chef, and he worked in many places during his lifetime, including the Ottumwa Country Club. He also owned The Maxx in Ottumwa years ago. He was especially interested in Civil War history and enjoyed participating in reenactments around the country.
Paul is survived by his sister-in-law, Debbie Truitt of Ottumwa; two nieces, Heather (Jason) Garner of Farmington, Missouri, and Angela (Greg) Price of Tyler, Texas; two great-nephews, William John Carroll Garner and James Dale Matthews; and a great-niece, Lillian Virginia Grace Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Virginia Truitt; his brother, David Laurence Truitt; and a great-nephew, Logan Scott Matthews.
Visitation is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, June 19 at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends at Reece Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20th.
Graveside services and burial will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20th at Agency Cemetery with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Memorials may be given to the Activity Department at Vista Woods Care Center.
