An Ottumwa man is facing charges after police responded to a reported violation of a no-contact order.

According to court records, officers with the Ottumwa Police Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of Greenwood Drive at approximately 6:56 p.m. on June 21 following a report of a domestic disturbance involving Samuel Cantu, 41, of Ottumwa.

Court documents state that Cantu was present at the residence when law enforcement arrived. Investigators determined that Cantu and the victim were currently living together despite two active no-contact orders prohibiting Cantu from being in the immediate vicinity of the victim and the victim’s residence.

Cantu was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. He was later released after posting a $300 cash/surety bond.

A no-contact order was issued on June 22. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for August 6.

Cantu is charged with Violation of a No-Contact/Protective Order, a simple misdemeanor.
