An Ottumwa man is facing charges following an incident outside a local bar earlier this month.

According to court documents, the Ottumwa Police Department was dispatched to a parking lot on the 2500 block of N. Court Street, at approximately 10:03 p.m. on June 5, for a report of disorderly conduct.

Authorities say Ethan Pierce, 20, had red, bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, an unsteady balance, and the odor of consumed alcoholic beverages coming from his person when they encountered him.

Court records state that Pierce admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages before officers arrived at the scene.

Pierce consented to a Datamaster breath test, which reportedly showed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.204%. Court documents note that Pierce is under the legal drinking age of 21.

Pierce was taken into custody and transported to the Wapello County Jail. He was later released on an Order of Disposition.

Pierce has been charged with Disorderly Conduct, a simple misdemeanor, and Persons Under Legal Age, First Offense, also a simple misdemeanor.
