An Ottumwa man is facing charges after authorities say he failed to complete a required sex offender registration verification.
According to court records, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant on 56-year-old Marc Alfred of Ottumwa in the 1000 block of Hayne Street on June 16 at approximately 11:12 a.m.
Court documents state that Alfred is a Tier III registered sex offender and is required by law to verify his residence, employment, and student status every three months. Registered offenders must also allow the sheriff’s office to photograph them and verify the accuracy of other required registration information.
Authorities allege that Alfred failed to appear for his scheduled verification appointment in May 2026.
Alfred was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $2,000 cash-only bond.
He is charged with Sex Offender Verification Violation, First Offense, an aggravated misdemeanor.
