An Ottumwa man was arrested after police say he was in possession of a stolen e-bike without any proof of purchase.
Timothy Moore, 42, was charged with second-degree theft, a Class D felony.
On February 9th, the Ottumwa Police Department says Moore was found to be in possession of an electric bike that was reported stolen. Moore allegedly told police he purchased the bike, valued at $1,800, for $400 but couldn’t recall the seller. Moore also claimed to have a bill of sale, but couldn’t provide it to law enforcement.
A warrant for Moore’s arrest was issued on May 26th, and he was taken into custody on May 29th.
Moore was transported to the Wapello County Jail and later freed after posting a $5,000 bond.
Moore has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 2nd.
