A Mechler-Dallas woman is facing burglary and theft charges following an investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

According to court records, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office investigated a burglary reported in the 200 block of Northeast 4th Street in Mechler-Dallas between March 17 and March 31.

A criminal complaint states that investigators received information from a reliable source alleging that 62-year-old Debra Meldrem committed the offense.

Authorities allege that during the reported time frame, Meldrem entered a residence without the owner’s consent, license, or legal privilege to do so. Court documents further claim that she removed property from the home with the intent to permanently deprive the victim of those items.

The estimated value of the stolen property was reported to be between $751 and $1,500.

A warrant was later served, and Meldrem was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail. She was subsequently released on her own recognizance.

Meldrem is charged with Third-Degree Burglary, a Class D felony, and Third-Degree Theft, an aggravated misdemeanor.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 11. Court records also indicate that a no-contact order has been issued in the case.
