A local woman is facing a domestic abuse assault charge after authorities say an altercation inside a residence left a victim with minor injuries.
On June 4 at approximately 10:14 a.m., the Marion County Sheriff’s Office investigated a domestic abuse assault in Knoxville.
According to court records, 38-year-old Samantha Ogden-Burton of Knoxville entered a private room in the 2000 block of Poplar Street that was occupied by the victim and locked the door without justification.
The criminal complaint states that the victim used a key to unlock the door, causing Ogden-Burton to fall to the floor as she attempted to keep it closed.
Court documents allege that after getting back to her feet, Ogden-Burton struck the victim on the right side of the face with a closed fist, causing slight swelling and redness.
Ogden-Burton is currently being held in the Marion County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond.
She is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury or Mental Illness, First Offense, a serious misdemeanor.
