The Jefferson County Farm Bureau has named Emily White, a senior at Fairfield High School, as one of this year’s scholarship recipients, according to a social media post from the organization.
White is the daughter of Josh and Amy White. Following graduation, she plans to attend Indian Hills Community College, where she will major in Radiologic Technology.
Throughout her high school career, White has been actively involved in FFA, 4-H, the Jefferson County 4-H Youth Committee, Southeast Iowa Youth Livestock Supporters, FBLA, and her church youth group. She has also held leadership positions as FFA Secretary and 4-H Secretary.
Agriculture has been a cornerstone of White’s upbringing through her family’s multi-generational involvement in the industry. “Agriculture is the foundation of our state and is a vital part of our future,” she said. “Being involved in agriculture has taught me dedication, responsibility, patience, and work ethic.”
After completing her education, White plans to start a business providing MagnaWave and ultrasound services to livestock producers to help improve animal health and productivity. She intends to remain in southeast Iowa, where she will raise competitive show lambs while volunteering to support 4-H and FFA youth. After her show career, she hopes to continue mentoring young people by helping them build confidence in showmanship, livestock care, and in themselves.
