The Iowa Sex Offender Registry remains an important public safety resource, providing Iowans with current information about registered sex offenders living in communities across the state.
Managed by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the Sex Offender Registry serves as the central repository for all sex offender registration records in Iowa. Registry staff are responsible for collecting, reviewing, processing, and maintaining offender records while working closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with registration requirements.
In addition to maintaining records, the registry team conducts compliance projects and investigations to verify offender information and locate individuals who may not be meeting registration obligations. During the past year, these efforts resulted in more than 2,700 registered offenders being located and confirmed as compliant with Iowa law.
Currently, Iowa has 7,129 active sex offender registrants.
The Iowa Sex Offender Registry website provides the public with access to offender information and is typically updated hourly during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. The most recent update was completed on June 22, 2026.
Officials encourage residents to use the registry as a tool to stay informed and promote community awareness. The registry can be accessed online at IowaSexOffender.gov.
