A Harvey man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges following a domestic incident that prompted a response from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

According to court records, deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of 5th Street in Harvey at approximately 12:46 a.m. on May 8 after a woman reported that her husband, Dean Wicks, 50, was armed with a firearm and threatening to shoot her.

While deputies were en route, they were informed that the woman was hiding under a bed inside the residence.

Court documents state that when deputies arrived, they observed Wicks armed with a long gun and actively loading the firearm. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The victim told investigators that Wicks had asked her for ammunition. When she asked why, he allegedly responded that he intended to use it on both her and himself.

According to court records, Wicks also allegedly told law enforcement that if officers had not responded the way they did, he would have shot them.

Wicks is currently being held in the Marion County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond.

A no-contact order was issued on May 8. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 18.

Wicks has been charged with Going Armed with Intent, a Class D felony, and First-Degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
