Lance Lillibridge:

An eastern Iowa farmer says his 2026 planting season was successful.

But Lance Lillibridge tells Brownfield he’s concerned about drought conditions.

“We’re all done with planting and we’ve got emergence. Things look pretty good,” he said, “but we are hurting for rain. We got about two-to-three tenths (Sunday) night in our neck of the woods. But, we’re really dry.”

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows pockets of D0 abnormally dry conditions creeping into the eastern portion of the state. Approximately 43% of the state is listed under a drought-related category, up from 25% the previous week.

Lillibridge, who raises corn and red angus cattle in Benton County, spoke to Brownfield at the Iowa State Capitol on Monday afternoon.
