Fairfield senior Aiden Westercamp has committed to continue his baseball career at Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, according to a social media post from Westercamp.
Westercamp, who plays catcher, outfield, and utility, has had a strong senior season for the Trojans so far. In 18 games played and started, he has recorded 16 hits, 11 runs, 17 RBIs, and a .308 batting average with a 0.871 OPS. On the mound he has posted a 0.00 ERA with five strikeouts through five innings of work, and has committed no errors in 42 total chances in the field.
In his announcement, Westercamp reflected on what the game has meant to him and the support he has received along the way. “There was no way I could leave this game after this season ends,” he said. “I want to thank everyone who supported me through the last 12-plus years and most importantly I want to thank my parents and the rest of my family. I wouldn’t be able to do any of it without them. From taking me to my first practice, running me all over town for games, driving four-plus hours for tournaments and taking the time to support me and cheer me on all along the way — I appreciate every bit of it.”
Westercamp added that he is looking forward to what comes next. “Time to focus on God’s plan and let him lead me through the next chapter of my life,” he said.
