The Iowa Board of Nursing has issued an emergency order suspending the license of a Davenport nurse due to the alleged threat he poses to the public.
The licensing board alleges that Glenn Thronson, an Iowa-licensed nurse since 2021, currently poses an “immediate danger to the public.”
According to the board, at some unspecified time in the past it received and then investigated complaints related to Thronson’s practice of nursing in Iowa. The board says it concluded that Thronson had engaged in some form of unethical conduct or practice that is harmful or detrimental to the public, and that he is currently “seeking out and applying for nursing jobs in the state of Iowa and poses an immediate danger to the public.”
The board has not publicly disclosed any information related to when or where the alleged misconduct is reported to have occurred, but civil court records show that between September 2025 and March 2026, Thronson was employed as a registered nurse at Spring Park Surgery Center in Davenport.
State employment records show that in 2021 and 2022, Thronson was employed by University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
According to the board, the immediate suspension of Thronson’s license is “necessary to protect the public health, safety or welfare until this case is resolved due to the serious nature of (his) behavior.”
The board has formally charged Thronson with falsification of records related to nursing; misappropriating medications or supplies; habitual intoxication or addiction to the use of drugs in a manner that might impair his ability to practice nursing; and failing to properly document or perform the disposal of medications.
A hearing on the matter is scheduled for June 12, 2026.
The Iowa Capital Dispatch was not able to contact Thronson for comment on the matter.
