Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway will begin signal improvement work at railroad crossings throughout Fairfield beginning Thursday, June 25th, according to a press release from City Engineer and Public Works Director Melanie Carlson.
All crossings except for 23rd Street will experience intermittent delays while signal replacement work is completed. The crossings will not be closed completely, but wait times will vary as crews test the gate arms without train traffic.
Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are encouraged to plan for possible delays and consider using alternative routes while the work is underway.
