A widespread 911 outage affected Washington County and other areas across Iowa on Monday, June 15th according to a social media post from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office alerted the public to the outage and directed residents who could not reach 911 to use an administrative line in the meantime. The cause of the outage was not specified.

Service was restored approximately three hours later around 8 p.m. “Emergency calls can now be placed normally,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a follow-up post, thanking the public for their patience while service was being restored.
