After more than a decade leading the Bridge View Center, Executive Director Scott Hallgren has announced he is stepping down to begin a new opportunity in eastern Iowa.
Hallgren shared on May 19th that he will resign from his position with VenuWorks at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa. His final day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27th.
Hallgren has served as Executive Director since March of 2015, helping guide the venue through years of growth, major events, community partnerships, and the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During his time in Ottumwa, the Bridge View Center became a major hub for concerts, conventions, banquets, fundraisers, and community events. Hallgren also played a large role in promoting tourism and economic activity throughout the area, often highlighting the impact visitors have on local hotels, restaurants, and businesses.
In addition to his work at the Bridge View Center, Hallgren remained active throughout the community. He previously served as president of the Ottumwa Rotary Club and worked alongside several local organizations and community groups over the years.
Hallgren will now relocate to Dubuque where he has accepted a new position overseeing three venues: the Grand River Center, Five Flags Theater, and Five Flags Arena.
The move marks a major career step as he transitions from managing one facility to overseeing multiple entertainment and convention venues in a larger market.
Hallgren also holds the Certified Venue Executive designation through the International Association of Venue Managers, a certification recognized throughout the entertainment and venue industry.
His departure leaves a significant leadership vacancy at the Bridge View Center as officials begin searching for the venue’s next executive director.
