The Ottumwa City Council held its final meeting of May on Tuesday, reviewing major financial updates and redevelopment projects across the city.
Council members approved vendor payments totaling $1.88 million, including more than $500,000 in large purchases and ongoing public works projects involving sewer separation and street repairs.
The council also reviewed Amendment No. 1 to the Fiscal Year 2026 budget.
Revenue increased by more than $1.17 million, largely due to federal and state grant funding, while expenses rose by about $581,000 because of overtime, repairs, and project timing adjustments.
Overall, the amendment results in a net revenue increase of $592,254.
Officials also discussed redevelopment plans for the former St. Joseph Hospital site through the Vogel Heights project and considered waiving
Fourteen thousand four hundred one dollars and fifty cents.in special assessments on two nearby properties owned by Rippling Waters to support redevelopment efforts.
