Pella Police Arrest Man on Domestic Abuse Assault Charge

A Pella man is facing a domestic abuse assault charge following an incident Friday evening.

According to a criminal complaint, officers with the Pella Police Department responded to the 400 block of South Clark Street at approximately 8:20 p.m. on May 15 for a reported domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they observed the victim had a cut on her hand along with several scrapes. Court documents state the victim told officers that 67-year-old Chris Hopkins of Pella caused the injuries.

Hopkins was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he is being held on a $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Hopkins is charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness, first offense, a serious misdemeanor.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 26.
