Authorities responded to a report of a possible violation of a court-issued no-contact/protective order after individuals covered by the order were found in the same residence.

On May 6 at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Ottumwa Police Department was called to the 900 block of W. 2nd Street for a reported violation of a no-contact/protective order.

According to court documents, Gabrielle Swailes, 31, of Ottumwa, and the protected party were both located inside the same apartment building, and their belongings were found together in the residence.

A review of surveillance footage reportedly showed Swailes in the presence of the protected party. Court records also indicate that two active restraining orders were in place, issued on April 4 and April 11.

Swailes was taken into custody and transported to the Wapello County Jail. She was later released after posting a $1,000 cash/surety bond.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for June 14. A new no-contact order was issued on May 7.

Swailes is charged with violation of a no-contact/protective order, a simple misdemeanor.
