Residents at an apartment complex reported a disturbing incident after a man was allegedly seen exposing himself in a shared public area.
On May 9 at approximately 1:10 p.m., the Ottumwa Police Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Finley Avenue in response to a public nudity complaint.
According to a criminal complaint, officers arrived and found John Jones, 49, of Ottumwa, in a common area of an apartment complex.
Court documents state multiple witnesses observed Jones with his pants below his waist, exposing his genitals, pubic area, and buttocks in a public setting.
Jones is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $300 cash/surety bond.
A pretrial conference has been scheduled for June 11.
Jones has been charged with public nudity, a simple misdemeanor.
