Main Street Fairfield has announced the launch of the Downtown Signage Enhancement Matching Grant through June 30th, a limited-time opportunity for businesses and commercial property owners in the downtown district to invest in exterior signage with financial support from the program.
Funded in partnership with the City of Fairfield Community Betterment Funds and Main Street Fairfield, the program offers a 1:1 matching grant of up to $2,000 for eligible applicants. Whether updating an existing sign or planning a new installation, the grant is designed to enhance business visibility, strengthen brand identity, and contribute to a more vibrant and cohesive downtown experience for residents and visitors.
Any business located within the Main Street Fairfield district is eligible to apply. To maximize public benefit, priority will be given to applicants who enhance pedestrian visibility, operate a business open to walk-in customers at least four days per week, demonstrate engagement with Main Street Fairfield committees or volunteer activities, and show support for Main Street Fairfield’s mission through financial or in-kind contributions within the current year.
The application process involves several steps: watching the Signage 101 video and reviewing the new Main Street Fairfield Sign Guide, obtaining a quote and detailed rendering of the proposed project, securing a letter of approval from the building owner if applicable, completing both the Main Street Fairfield Sign Enhancement Grant Application and the City of Fairfield Sign Permit Application, arranging installation with a sign company, and contacting Main Street Fairfield upon completion to confirm the project and arrange reimbursement.
