May is National Beef Month, and the Jefferson County Farm Bureau is marking the occasion with a contest at the Fairfield HyVee, giving participants a chance to win $100 or $50 worth of beef products.
The contest runs through 11:59 p.m. on May 27th and is open to anyone who visits the Fairfield HyVee at 1300 W. Burlington Avenue. To enter, participants can scan a QR code located at the meat counter and answer five brief questions related to beef and nutritional value. Those who complete the survey will be entered for a chance to win. Winners will be able to select their preferred cuts directly from HyVee’s fresh meat selection, allowing them to tailor their prize to fit their family’s needs.
The Jefferson County Farm Bureau said the contest is designed to encourage consumers to learn more about beef production, recognize the nutritional benefits of beef, and support local farmers and retailers throughout the month.
Beef is a naturally nutrient-dense protein that provides essential nutrients including zinc, which supports a healthy immune system, and vitamin B12, which plays a key role in brain development in children and helps maintain a healthy nervous system throughout life.
Community members are also encouraged to include beef in their meals throughout May as part of the monthlong celebration honoring cattle farmers and the important role beef plays in feeding families across the country.
